1. On Giving Grace
I had lunch with my friend and we really talked about this at length. In summary, we are often able to rationalize our own private actions but expect perfection from everyone else, but I think what is important is to be able to extend grace to others just as we expect to receive grace. I’m definitely a work in progress but I think what helps is recognizing that everyone is on a growth journey and what should really matter is our ability to let love lead.
2. What I’m Excited About
I booked a week’s cruise on a really big ship across several countries. In all honesty, I am both nervous and excited. It is my first group trip with people I am not familiar with, but I look forward to having a good time. The trip is activity packed and I’m about to have content for days.
3. On Names
Fun fact, I have 5 names and Amezim is one of them. Interestingly, it is the middle name on my birth certificate but I never quite liked it and so I recently swapped it out for Isoiza (Meaning: Something Good) on my official documents. I came across this post on Instagram with the meaning of the name and I had a big moment where I realized I had been living up to the name so much. As a person, one thing I really believe is that what is yours will find its way to you at the right time and when it is your time, it really will be your time. When I think about my entire life, I see how it represents a sum of ‘coincidences’ that have shaped me into the person I am today and that I am becoming.
4. What’s Up in the World?
Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, died today at the age of ninety-six. I loved watching The Crown and I was just starting to look forward to a new season. It has been interesting to see the efficiency of the transition to a new monarch in just a few hours.
5. What I loved reading
This newsletter I read that talked about the Algebra of wealth. Several takeaways including a different perspective on passion and a fact-based investment-linked benefit on relationships.
6. What is stressing me
This week I got an email from my energy provider notifying me of a 33% increase in my monthly bill starting from October. I try to be efficient with my energy consumption, so I am almost certain it has nothing to do with my consumption levels, but the increase is likely because of all the inflation and energy security issues going on globally now. If you are like me and thinking of ways to remain or become more energy efficient, you can get some tips from this post I did in 2020 and from here.
7. What I watched
I loved watching Persuasion on Netflix. At this point, I cannot deny my love for English dramas anymore plus I’m also a sucker for any Jane Austen movie adaptation. It’s definitely the kind of movie I will watch again.
8. Music for the soul
The entire Apostolos album by Pastor Emmanuel Iren. Prayer time companion, I highly recommend. Like you will think you are just listening to songs and the next thing you are speaking in tongues. Totally love it.
